About Me (the maker of BookCases)

I suppose since you're learning a bit about what a BookCase is, you may like to know a little about their creator. Since I have a tendency to over-write, I think I'll give you some quick facts in list form. (Who doesn't love a good list?)

  • My name is Amanda, and I'm a 23 year old Bibliophile from Pennsylvania.
  • I have loved books for as long as I can remember, and I'm often reading several at one time.
  • I wrote a novel for the first time during last year's National Novel Writing Month, and successfully reached the goal of 50,000 words from scratch in one month. I plan on participating again this year and beating my previous word count.
  • There is almost always a book with me, even if I know I may not get the chance to read.
  • My bookshelves are literally overflowing, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever have enough room for all of my books (the collection never stops growing!)
  • My favorites authors include: Markus Zusak, John Green, Jonathan Safran Foer, and several others.
  • I can never really pick a favorite book, but "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak is definitely a top choice.
I hope you learned a little about me and my love of reading. Don't be afraid to ask questions if there's anything else you'd like to know! I'm an open book! ; )

I'm gonna need more supplies!

I've got a stack of 6 cool old hardcovers and 3 new ones ready and waiting to be transformed into a BookCase! It's really quite exciting. : )

Don't Panic!

This is my personal BookCase, made from the B&N hardcover classics edition of "The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. I wouldn't make these for other people if I didn't love mine so much! I recently had it with me during a shopping trip and fooled several people into thinking I was simply carrying something to read. You should have seen their faces when I opened it up to pull out my car keys, wallet and cell phone. ; )

The very first BookCase

This is the very first BookCase ever made! It was hand-cut from the Barnes&Noble hardcover classics edition of "Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell, one of my all-time favorite books. A photo was chosen from inside the book to put on the front cover, and a pocket added for keeping items safe. The heavy duty clasp is fitted into the pages, keeping the closed surface of the book perfectly flat. As you can see, from the outside it appears to be just another book. It's what's inside that counts!

Welcome to BookCase!

BookCase is a fun new way to use your favorite books, whether you're a trendsetter headed out for a night on the town, or someone in need of an excellent hiding place for something valuable. Let your imagination take your BookCase wherever you want it to go!

A BookCase is a one of a kind item, handmade from old, new, and just plain well-loved books. Each one features a roomy space cut from the inside of the book's pages, hidden within its unaltered exterior. A strong clasp holds the front cover shut from the inside, keeping the illusion that your BookCase is an ordinary book, and leaving passersby wondering how you managed to pull your wallet and car keys out of what you're reading!

BookCases are great for:
*A fashionable clutch for the bookworm who just can't leave home without her favorite titles
*A secret hiding place that can blend in with your other books and fool even the most curious eyes
*A pencil case for students (young and old) to travel to school with or keep on their desk at home

What you do with your BookCase is up to you!
